Orient Point sits on the southern bank of the Crookhaven River mouth, almost entirely surrounded by water. Across the river is Comerong Island, behind it is Culburra Beach, and there’s only one road in.
It’s the rare spot on this coast that faces west, so while the beaches get the sunrise, Orient Point gets the sunset. Most evenings, the whole street is outside for it.
House prices in Orient Point have risen 4.6% over the past year. Only four houses were available last month, with 137 buyers watching for the next one. Houses rent for a median of $580 a week at a 3.7% yield.

Orient Point is a purely residential village of mid-century fibro fishing shacks, renovated holiday homes and newer double-storey builds designed to catch the river view. Prices sit close together across two, three and four-bedroom homes, so position matters more than size here. Waterfront and river-view homes are what buyers ask for first, and they rarely stay on the market long.
Mornings start with the mist lifting off the river. Launch the boat from the ramp at the end of the street, cast a line off the banks for blackfish on the run-out tide, or paddle across to Greenwell Point for fish and chips and back again before lunch. Crookhaven Rocks has a covered picnic spot right on the water, and the foreshore reserve winds through the wetlands for a slow walk with the birdlife.
Many of the streets are named after historic ocean liners, from Orsova to Oroya. Culburra’s shops, cafes and medical centre are five minutes away, Nowra around twenty-five. Sydney is just over two hours north.
