Currarong is a houses-only market, and a small one. Expect original beach shacks, renovated cottages and larger homes built for extended family summers, many of them working as holiday rentals between visits. Creekfront and water-view homes come up rarely, and the larger four-bedroom homes command a clear premium, with a median above $1.4m.
Abrahams Bosom Beach is the family swim, sheltered and easy. From there, the Wreck Walk leads to the rusted remains of the SS Merimbula, and the longer Coomies Walk takes you around the headland. Out at Point Perpendicular, the cliffs drop 75 metres into the sea, and from May to November the whales pass close enough to hear.
On the first Saturday of each month, local artists open their studios for the Currarong Art Trail. Nowra is around half an hour away. Sydney is two and a half hours north.
